Mentoring is one of the most efficient activities for an individual’s personal and professional growth.
It often creates a long-term relationship based on mutual trust and respect. Subject matter expertise and, above all, a good understanding of the issues concerned, support the mentoring process.
I would like to point out three different areas which I care for and have experience in:
Interplay between board of directors and management
This is a fascinating as well as an underestimated territory. Through my professional career, I was on both sides of the equation and could make extensive experience in respect to governance questions and relationship issues between the board of directors and the management board and in particular between the Chairman and the Group CEO.
Interaction between start-ups and corporates
Start-ups and corporates are like yin and yang – polarity and attraction at the same time. Being different creates learning opportunities but also poses challenges. I am chaperoning several founders, regularly speak about that topic and also published a small article.

Female leadership
Even if the corporate world makes progress, I still believe that female leaders have more difficulty to access the informal networks and to find suitable sounding partners or mentors. I would like to support female leaders since I am truly convinced that the corporate world is a better place if it is more inclusive in general. Female leadership should not be reduced to quotas. We need to talk about how women and men can make a difference together.
